Company President
Todd got his first Lean experience in Value Stream
Mapping at Michelin North America (Canada), where
he worked as an Industrial Engineer for three years.
Todd spent two years at Hermes Electronics Inc. where,
as a Production Supervisor he began implementing Lean
in his departments. After dramatically improving productivity,
reducing lead times and improving quality, he was
promoted to the position of Lean Manufacturing Program
Manager. In this role, Todd led multiple Value Stream
implementations, which included 5S, Single Piece Flow
Cells, Material Handling, Quick Changeover, and Kanban.
As one of Lean Advisors Inc.'s senior advisors for
a year and a half, Todd was responsible for the creation
of several workshops, including Making Value Flow,
5S, Mixed Model Flow, and Lean Material Handling.
Todd was also the lead advisor for the Canadian Lean
Shipbuilding Initiative.
Todd has presented "Lean Basic Concepts" at a regional
American Society for Quality conference as well as
"Continuous Flow" and "Preparing to See" at Saint
Mary's University's "Leaning Towards Business" and
"Leaning More Towards Business" conferences.

Led the implementation of Single Piece Flow work
cells in an electronics manufacturing company resulting
in an 85% reduction in inventory, 33% increase in
productivity, 75% reduction in utilized floor space
and a 99% reduction in defects.
-
Facilitated the design of a Lean Material Handling
system in a food processing facility resulting in
material deliveries every 20 minutes (instead of
once per shift) with the same workforce.
-
Applied 5S to a large pharmaceutical company in
both operational and warehousing areas.
-
Led a lean transformation at an aircraft maintenance,
repair and overhaul (MRO) facility.
-
Taught the techniques of Flow to a food processing
organization, allowing them to consolidate their
three-floor operation onto two floors.
As a Lean educator, Todd has helped companies implement
Lean in a wide variety of industries including electronics
assembly; automotive; machine shops; food processing;
aircraft maintenance, overhaul and repair; and many
others. Some of the companies that Todd has worked with
include Gorton's Seafood, Singapore Airlines Engineering
Company (SIAEC), Messier-Dowty, Pharmacia, Sentry Safe,

"Before starting their Lean journey, many organizations
say things such as, 'Lean doesn't apply to us - our
processes are different!' No matter what your business
is, you will want to add value for the customer, eliminate
waste and reduce lead-time. Lean is a way of thinking,
a philosophy. It's not a set of tools; it's not a
Kaizen event, although that is a tool you may use
in the application of Lean. There are many tools that
work well with Lean and some will fit your situation
better than others. Lean planning helps you decide
which to use, when and where."
